An ornate, reclaimed, Art Nouveau bedroom combination fire for DECORATIVE USE. The fire has an elegant design with flowers along the crossbar in the Art Nouveau style and scrolling detail on either end of the crossbar. The smoke hood has an oval medallion design. The fire retains its original front bars, grill and fire brick. The fire has two tabs at the back of the mantel for sinking into the wall and two fixing holes, one on either side, under the mantel for fixings so the fire can be attached to the wall. The fire has a registered design number on the back and on the back of the smoke flap, RD 372087, dating it to 1901. The fire has been blacked and polished and has a nice finish.
The fire is in solid reclaimed condition with some signs of age and some damage and therefore the fire is suitable for DECORATIVE USE ONLY. The iron has a crack inside the fire opening, above the fire brick. The fire brick has a crack and has been re-sealed around the edges but it is stable within the fire. There is some damage to the iron at the back of the fire where it surrounds the fire brick and it has had some repairs to make it stable (see last picture for details). The fire has some casting marks, roughness to the iron in places and some pitting. The back of the fire has surface rust, as expected. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire is a nice example of Art Nouveau design and it would make a great period feature in a bedroom.
