A very attractive reclaimed Victorian cast iron fire front with oak mantel, for decorative use. The fire front has an ornate design with an arched opening with a fan or shell style repeating border around it. The crossbar has a corbel in the centre with fern detailing and the corners of the crossbar have panels with heart shapes and leaves. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a nice finish. The original mantel was damaged and has been replaced with an oak mantel, made from characterful antique oak that has been lightly waxed and polished. The fire front has four fixing lugs, one on each side under the mantel and one on each side of the legs. There are two holes, one on either side, on the inner edge near the bottom of the fire front (see pictures 3 & 4).

The fire front is in good reclaimed condition with some signs of age and use, as expected. The oak used to make the mantel is reclaimed and has some small holes and indentations, perhaps from now dead woodworm. The oak has a rustic appearance and texture and has some small surface splits and knocks. The cast iron has some small knocks, casting marks and pitting. The back has surface rust, as expected. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire front is a fantastic decorative item for a fireplace and it is a wonderful example of Victorian design.
