Five reclaimed, hand carved, oak frieze sections measuring, in total, approximately 25 feet in length. The stunning frieze sections are likely to be Georgian and they are a rare find in useable condition. Each piece of frieze has been hand carved with nulled decoration. The back of each piece has a roman numeral carved into it and the back surface is slightly uneven from the use of an adze when the frieze was made. The oak has a very nice deep colour and the wood has an interesting grain. The frieze sections are in solid antique condition with some signs of wear and some areas of damage, commensurate with age. The smaller pieces in particular have some damage to edges and one piece has some wood broken away and the other has some broken oak and a crack. The oak has thin oak tabs, presumably used for fitting, on some of the ends and edges and some of these tabs have knocks, cracks and damage. The oak has some small holes, chips and scratches. The backs of the oak pieces have a few nails remaining. Please see pictures for condition details. The oak frieze sections are finely made and have a wonderful period appearance and are ideal for adding character to a home design project.
