A very beautiful late Georgian transfer print ceramic wash basin, dating to circa 1830. The basin would have originally been mounted in to a wash stand and has overflow, cork plug and waste ring. The design of the basin is particularly fine, with pretty scenes of the period. The edge of the sink has an elegant flower border and there are decorative leaves interspersed between landscape scenes. The basin has an overflow waste pipe with bark style finish. The basin could be fitted to a wash stand or sunk into a table or work top and taps can be added to the wall to flow into the basin. A small plug or stop will need to be added and modern waste pipes. The design is bright and clear and the white and blue colouring is classic and attractive. The basin is in very good condition with only small signs of its considerable age. There are a few light chips to the underside of the basin and a few very small chips and marks to the main bowl. There is some light wear to the cork and waste. The basin is a rare and quality piece that could be paired with period taps or modern taps to make a design statement. The basin is a desirable and interesting piece, ideal for an en-suite or smaller bathroom.
