A fantastic Victorian carved oak sideboard made by furniture makers Edwards and Roberts, who were among the best furniture makers of the late 19th Century. The sideboard is elaborately designed with decorative borders around the table edge, fantastic solid barley twist legs and finely carved animal faces that sit in the corners and middle of the front edge. The sideboard has two working drawers and the left hand drawer has the makers name and address stamped into the top edge. There is a decorative back piece that is attached to the back edge of the sideboard. The oak has a very attractive grain and has been stained or waxed to give a darker, high shine finish. The sideboard is in very good condition but does have some slight signs of use, as expected of reclaimed antiques. Some light marks, scuffs and scratches can be seen. There are two knocks to the wood around the edges of the back piece. The sideboard is ideal for use in a hall, dining or living room and its fantastic period design would add great character to a room. A perfect item for collectors of fine Victorian furniture.
