A stunning, highly decorative, carved original Georgian pine corner cupboard, ideal for storing and displaying items. The cupboard is likely to date to pre 1800 and an item of this quality is seldom encountered. The cupboard has a decorative arch and two open shelves with scalloped edges. The top of the cupboard has a fantastic corbel with acanthus leaves and there are ornate mouldings with carved leaves, in relief, on either side. There are carved flowers and neo-classical features running down each side of the front face of the cupboard. The base of the cupboard has a further shelf with scalloped edge, covered by a door with working key and panel detailing. The pine has a lovely colour and it has been waxed at some point. The cupboard is in good antique condition with some light wear and damage due to its considerable age. Some of the decorative mouldings have small holes and knocks and some are slightly loose. There are some small treated woodworm holes, especially to the end of the corbel. The back of the cupboard and shelves have some splits. There is some slight colour variation in the wood. Some of the mouldings have surface splits but they are stable. The cupboard door has a slight gap at the top where it might have dropped slightly. There are some knocks and marks, especially to the base. Please see pictures for condition details. The cupboard is a very fine example of Georgian design and is both useful and a perfect interior showpiece. The cupboard has an abundance of period charm and is a very desireable item.
