M1642 A RECLAIMED ANTIQUE MARBLE TOPPED WOODEN WASHSTAND / CABINET

Code: M1642

SOLD

A very pretty, reclaimed, marble topped washstand likely to date to the early 20th Century. The washstand base comprises of mixed woods, including oak. The base has a door with key, two smaller drawers and a longer drawer above these. Please note the key does not seem to lock the longer drawer, perhaps due to damage to the lock, but the key works in the lower door. The drawers have ornate metal handles and the wood grain of the drawer fronts and door is very attractive. The wooden base is topped with elegant white marble with a high back and side pieces with small corner shelves for perfume bottles or similar. The marble is of a good quality with attractive grey veins. The top is not attached to the base, making it easier for transportation. The washstand is in good solid condition with some signs of wear and some damage, as expected of antique items. The top of the wooden base is missing a strip of wood and has some cracks. Purchaser could patch repair the strip where wood is missing. The top front joints are unfixed and may come loose when moving the base but can be pushed back in place to make it stable. The marble has some some small scratches and marks and a pale stain but is in good overall condition. There is some residue rust to the marble sides from the fixing screws. The drawers have some light marks and some stains and the wood has some scratches and small knocks as expected. The corner shelves are slightly loose. Please see pictures for condition details. The washstand has a very pretty period appearance and could be ideal for use as a bedside cabinet or bathroom cabinet, adding charm and character to a room.
