A fantastic vintage, industrial style, large metal kneehole desk with a stunning oak top. The desk dates to the 1950's and has 3 drawers on each side and a slim central drawer at the top of the kneehole space. The metal desk base retains much of its original green paint but it has some losses, patina and some marks, adding to the fantastic industrial character. The desk has a very attractive, newly added, oak planked top with a very handsome wood grain. The top has been finished with a slender oak border. There are slim oak batons above the side drawers. The oak has been finished with a clear satin decorators varnish giving it a rich colour. The base has been lightly waxed and polished to highlight the original paint and patina. We believe the desk may have originated in the USA as there is a sticker on the side saying "Property of Minneapolis Honeywell Regulator Company". All drawers and fully opening and have a hardboard liner. Please note, the desk originally had a lock for the central slim drawer that is now missing. The locking mechanism also linked with the lower left hand drawer as a security feature and although the lock is now not present, the bottom left hand drawer can only be opened when the central drawer is open. The desk is in very good solid condition with some small signs of age that add to its character. There are some small dents and knocks and the paint has some scratches and losses. The oak top has some wood knots, some with small splits and holes, that add character. One join between two oak planks has some separation. The handles have some tarnish and surface rust, as do the drawer bases under the liners. Please see pictures for condition details. The desk is an ideal item for a home office or an industrial space, with a good amount of storage and a large space for working. The desk is a functional and very stylish vintage item.
