A very fine, original Georgian, oak oval drop leaf table. The table has an abundance of antique charm and character and is of a good size. The oak has a beautiful colour and the top has been waxed and polished to highlight the interesting wood grain and characteristics from age. The table has a gateleg design that are folded back under the table until the table is extended. The gatelegs support the drop leaves on each side when opened and the table is oval when fully extended. The table top has double scratched lines around the circumference, indicating that the table dates to C.1800 when this design was often found.
The table is in useable condition with signs of wear and some damage commensurate with age. The table has an old patch repair. One leg has had a repair and there are some visible cracks to the legs, however they are stable. The table has some cracks and splits, including one larger split where the oak has raised slightly around the edge. There are some knocks to the ends of the oak sections. The table has scratches, marks and gouges and the top has colour variation and some stains. There is some evidence of treated woodworm. Please see pictures for condition details.
The drop leaf table is a very nice example of Georgian design and would be the perfect antique display item for the home or for occasional use. The table has great character and is ideal for a period property.
