Code: M2051
Dimensions:
A fine quality reclaimed envelope card / game table, likely to date to C.1890-1900. The table is wooden, probably made from flame mahogany, and has a very elegant design with four hinged envelope flaps that open to reveal the card / game playing area, fitted with green baize. Each corner has a coin or counter well. The top can be swivelled to allow for chairs to fit more comfortably around the table. The top has elegant inlay around the outer edges, when closed, and there is a small drawer with moulded detailing and a small wooden handle. The legs have fluted detailing and there is a circular disk with line inlay in-between the thin stretchers attached to the legs.
The table is in good antique condition with some small signs of age, as expected of reclaimed items. The corners of the envelope top have some small knocks, when folded and also unfolded. It is slightly tricky to open the envelope top as there is no pull. The baize is coming away slightly in some corners and one edge has a very small piece missing. One of the counter wells has a split. The wood has some small scratches and knocks, especially to the feet. Please see pictures for condition details. The table is of a very nice quality and is a fine example and it would be an elegant addition to a room.
