A set of beautiful, reclaimed, antique fire tiles likely to date to the late Victorian period. The set comprises of 12 tiles, 8 large square tiles and 4 half tiles that sit in-between the centre tiles and the end tiles. The tiles have a very ornate design, in the Adam style, featuring flowers, urns, fruit and acanthus leaves. Two tiles on each side fit together to form the central design and the other large tiles have a differing leaf and flower pattern. Each large tile has a decorative border. The detailing is very fine and the colour is in good order. The half tiles have textured green leaves that are framed by brown top and bottom borders. The tiles are designed to sit on either side of a cast iron tiled fire, 6 on each side, but could be used for other interior design projects. The tiles are in good reclaimed condition with some wear and signs of age, as expected of reclaimed antiques. The tile enamel has crazing and there are some small knocks and chips, mainly to the edges. The tiles do have some stains and smoke residue that may improve with further cleaning. One tile has some residue grout or filler attached to the front. There are some small areas where the design has faded and there are some scratches. Please see pictures for condition details. The tiles have a very pretty period design and would be perfect for adding character to a cast iron tiled fire or to add character and charm to a home.
