A very heavy and attractive reclaimed, reproduction, cast iron fire back. The item depicts a coat of arms with a unicorn and lion on either side and crown on top of the shield. The top has the date 1635 and CR cast into it and is a replica of a fire back from the reign of Charles I. The item has an arched top and raised border around the design. The fire back is very solid and well constructed and has been blacked and polished to give a high shine finish. The item would compliment a decorative fire basket and would add character and design to a hearth. The fire back is reclaimed and therefore has some slight signs of wear. Some casting marks and slight pitting can be seen. One edge has a knock or casting defect and there is some of the raised border missing, please see pictures. A very well made and heavy fire back that would be ideal for a cottage or period home.
Depth 3.5cm at widest
