A very heavy, traditional style, cast iron fire back. The item is classic and simple in design with a plain centre, surrounded by a thick rope edge border. The top of the fire back has an attractive shape. The fire back is very solid and well constructed and has been blacked and polished to give a high shine finish. The item would compliment a decorative fire basket and would add character and design to a hearth. The fire back is reclaimed and therefore has some slight signs of wear. The back has some surface rust. The front has some light casting marks and slight pitting. The border has some knocks and some uneven edges. A very well made and heavy fire back that would be ideal for a cottage, modern or period home due to its simple and classic design.
