A large reclaimed stripped oak fire surround dating to the 1930's. The fire surround has an elegant and classic design with a mantel with rounded edges and carved corbels below the mantel. The oak has a fantastic grain and good colour. The fire surround inner edges have been set up to fit with a cast iron insert. The fire surround is in solid reclaimed condition with some signs of age and wear, as expected of antique items. The oak has some stains, colour variation and marks and there are some small knocks and chips. The sides of the legs have some small holes. The crossbar and mantel top have some dark circular stains. The bottom edge of the crossbar is not totally straight. There are some small areas of paint residue. Please see pictures for condition details. The surround is of a good size for a living room or larger bedroom and is ideal for pairing with a cast iron insert. The surrounds simple and elegant design would suit many interiors and it would finish a fireplace nicely.
