A large, attractive, heavy, reclaimed reproduction cast iron fire back that is of the ideal size for a living or dining room. The fire back is a reproduction of a traditional, period, style from the 1600's and this is illustrated with a date of 1649 within the design. The fire back has a large lion with a Tudor rose on its left side and a flur-de-lys on the right hand side and a thistle on top. The fire back has an attractive shaped top and a raised border around the edges. The fire back is perfect for pairing with a fire basket or grate. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a lovely finish. The fire back is solid and heavy but is reclaimed and therefore has some slight signs of use and wear. There are some casting marks, knocks and scratches to the front and there is some surface rust to the back. The fire back has a very attractive design and it is a desirable item that would add great character and charm to a fireplace.
