A reclaimed, vintage, cast iron fire back. The large rectangular fire back has an ornate appearance with a cast historical religious scene, similar to the Wedding at Cana. The scene has twisted columns on either side. The top and base has cast writing, we believe in German, and there are flowers and leaves. The fire back is likely to be a vintage re-casting of an antique design. The back has a recessed cut out. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a good finish. The fire back is useable but does have some damage. The fire back has a large crack that runs from the bottom to approximately two thirds of the way up and is therefore fragile. We can add fire cement to the crack to help strengthen the fire back for an extra charge, please contact us for details and a quote. There are some small marks and knocks. The back has some slight surface rust. Some of the writing has worn slightly. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire back has an interesting design and is of a good size and could be used with a fire basket or for decorative purposes.
