An unusual, reclaimed, petite French cast iron fire basket. The fire basket, made by Odelin, dates to C.1930s and has an unusual design with a tilted back, perhaps to reflect heat into the room. The back has large lettering "GRILLE BOULETS" "AO DEPOSE". The fire basket has a simple grate design and a small grill for burning. The fire basket has high sides that curve slightly inwards. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a very nice finish. The basket is in very good reclaimed condition with some signs of age, as expected. The grill is a replacement and is slightly smaller than the original, leaving some gaps. There are some small knocks and casting marks. The grill has some tarnish. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire basket has an interesting look and its design would suit both period and modern properties, adding interest and character to a hearth.
