Dimensions:
A heavy, reclaimed, cast iron and brass fire register / basket. The fire register is a reproduction of period designs, approximately 30 years old and has an ornate appearance. The register has a cast iron fire back with pretty acanthus leaf design at the top and a cast iron grill, front bars and two iron back legs. The register has traditional brass finials on either side of the top front bar and on either side on top of the tapered brass front legs. There is brass sun detailing between the front bars and legs and a decorative brass trim under the grill. The iron has been blacked and polished and the brass has had some polishing but it has some tarnish and there are scuffs on the brass trim and front feet. The fire basket is in good reclaimed condition with some signs of use and wear, as expected. The fire back has some slight pitting. There are some marks and scratches. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire register is a very nice item with a great period style, ideal for adding character to a fireplace.
