A reclaimed, reproduction, cast iron and brass fire register / fire basket. The register is a reproduction of period designs and has an elegant and ornate appearance with a shaped top featuring acanthus leaves. The register retains its original curved front bars and there is brass detailing at the front, with decorative finials and brass acanthus leaves that run down the sides and front of the basket, under the front bars. The fire register has a thick built in fire brick at the back. The iron has been blacked and polished and the register has a nice finish. The fire register is reclaimed and has some signs of use and wear. The brick at the back of the basket has some darker marks, staining and pitting and the fixing filler is breaking and cracking at the base of the brick but it is stable. You may wish to re-do the filler before use. The cast iron has some casting marks and pitting. There is a small hole on one side of the fire register. The brass has some tarnish. The grill has some wear to the bars. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire register has a very nice period appearance and it would make a lovely feature in a fireplace.
