Dimensions:
A very nice reclaimed, reproduction, cast iron and brass fire grate/ fire basket. The register is a very heavy and very nice quality reproduction of period designs. The register has a cast iron back with shaped top. The register retains its original front bars and it has an ornate brass serpentine apron with pierced detail and a flower medallion in the centre. The register has small brass wings with decorative detailing. The front legs are brass and they have two elegant brass urn finials that sit on top. The fire register has two other brass urn finials on either side of the top front bar.
The fire register is in good reclaimed condition with some signs of wear and use, as expected. The grill is a replacement and it has had metal fixing tabs attached to the back and sides to hold it in place. The brass has some tarnish and scratches. The iron has some casting marks, pitting and some small scuffs, especially to the fire back. The lower front bars are slightly out of shape. The back has some slight surface rust. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire register has a very fine period appearance and it would make a very elegant feature for a fireplace.
