A reclaimed, reproduction, cast iron and brass fire grate / fire basket. The fire basket is heavy and well made and is a modern reproduction in the Georgian style, with a cast iron back with a shaped top and a large integrated fire brick. The fire basket has brass detailing with a fretwork apron under the gill area, featuring a repeating leaf design. The sides of the basket area have a shaped edge and there are brass ball finials on either side of the top front bar. The legs have an ornate design, in brass, and have large decorative brass finials. The grill is present and in good condition. The fire basket is in good solid condition with some signs of use and wear, as expected of reclaimed items. The brass has some scratches and tarnish. The brass fretwork is missing the central pin and is coming away from the basket slightly. The fire brick has had a repair to a crack, which can be seen but it is not particularly obvious. The iron has some small knocks. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire basket has a very elegant period appearance and it would make a fantastic feature for a fireplace.
