Dimensions:
A heavy, reclaimed, reproduction cast iron and brass fire basket. The fire basket is a reproduction of period designs and has an ornate appearance. The basket has a decorative, shaped back with a shell and acanthus leaf design, popular during the late Victorian period. The basket has decorative legs with scrolled feet and has curved front bars with brass finials on each side of the top front bar. There is a pretty brass section with a flower design under the front bars. The basket has a concrete fire back and grill for burning. The iron has been blacked and polished. The fire basket is in good condition with some signs of use and wear, as expected of reclaimed items. The brass has some scratches and tarnish. The iron has some small knocks, pitting and casting marks. The grill has some signs of use and some small patches of surface rust. The back has a white residue on the iron. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire basket is a very nice item with a great period style, ideal for adding character to a fireplace.
