A reclaimed, reproduction, cast iron and brass fire grate / fire basket. The basket is very heavy and is a very nice quality reproduction of Georgian designs. The basket has a cast iron back with a decorative shaped top and acanthus leaf decoration and it has a textured finish. The basket retains its front bars and grill and it has a decorative ornate brass finial underneath. The brass legs have scrolling detail. There is a thick fire brick that sits within a bracket at the back of the basket. The fire basket is in good condition with some signs of use, as expected. The fire brick has some knocks and thin cracks but it is solid. The brick is stable within the basket but has some slight movement within the bracket when the basket is moved. The brass has some character tarnish and some scratches. The bottom front bar is missing the fixing pin so it will move if pulled. The iron has some surface rust to the back. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire basket has a very fine period appearance and it would make a fantastic feature for a fireplace.
