Code: FC0162
Dimensions:
A pretty, reclaimed, Victorian combination fire. The fire is well made with a lovely design and is of the ideal size for a bedroom or smaller reception room. The fire has an ornate smoke hood, in the "Brighton Pavilion" style, and the legs have an attractive column design. There is dentil moulding under the mantel and leaf designs at the top of the legs. The fire retains its original front bars and grill and there is a rosette design above the fire brick. The fire has been blacked and polished and has a nice finish. The fire has a registered design number on the back, RD 289386, dating the fire to1896. The fire is in solid reclaimed condition with some signs of wear and some damage, as expected of antique items. The fire has had a repair to the top right hand fixing lug. The fire has some surface rust to the back, as expected. There are some marks and chips to the fire brick and the iron has some casting marks and knocks. There is a crack to one of the side cheeks within the fire opening. There is a thin crack to one leg but the fire is stable. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire is a very pretty example of Victorian design and it would add great period character to a fireplace.
