FC0028 A Decorative Victorian Cast Iron Combination Bedroom Fireplace
Dimensions:W: 80.7cm (31.8")H: 98.5cm (38.8")D: 14.5cm (5.7")
A very pretty, ornate, Victorian cast iron combination bedroom fire. The fire is heavily decorated with rope borders and repeating designs, typical of the era. The fire has a deep border around the opening, framing the pretty design to the back of the fire, featuring an Adam style motif. The fire has a heavy mantle, original stylish front bars and grill. The fire has a beautiful burnished and lacquered finish, giving the fire an attractive and desireable silvery colour. The fire has an RD number on the reverse. The number is faint but can be read. RD 240193 dates the fire to 1894. The fire is of a good size, perfect for a bedroom or small dining or living room. The fire is antique and therefore has some slight signs of use and wear. The fire has some light scratches and casting marks and there are some larger scratches, marks and staining to the mantel (please see pictures for details). The fire has a new concrete back that has a slight gap at the top. There is some surface rust to the grill and slight patches to the front of the fire. The back has surface rust as expected. The fire has a great quality and design and is fully useable and stylish. The fires attractive design and beautiful silver finish would be wonderful in a period home, adding great character and interest to a hearth.
