A decorative, cast iron, late Victorian combination fireplace, ideal for a bedroom or reception room. The fire is solid and chunky and has heavily decorated legs with a vertical line design and three leaf panels at the top of each. The fire has an attractive smoke hood that stands out from the body of the fire. The smoke hood has a scrolled leaf pattern. Above the smoke hood is a pretty sunflower motif and vines on either side of this. The fire has the original shaped front bars. The fire does have an RD number on the back but it is fairly unreadable due to age and wear. We believe the RD number is RD340898, dating it to 1899. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a rich colour and nice finish. The fire is in good, useable, condition but does have some repairs. The fire has some light scratches and casting marks, especially near the decorative areas, please see pictures for details. The back of the fire was damaged and has been replaced with a back and smoke hood from another fire of the same era. Some slight chips to the concrete fire back can be seen. The fire back has surface rust as expected. The fire has an attractive design that would suit many types of property. A fine example of late Victorian design.
