A pretty and ornate cast iron Art Nouveau combination fireplace with a very attractive design. The fire is of a good size and would be suitable for a bedroom or smaller reception room. The fire has a very pretty domed smoke hood with serpentine edge. The cross bar, legs and hood have delicate vines and flower stems and there are large poppies in the Art Nouveau style along the cross bar. The fire opening has a decorative border and the fire has the original, shaped, front bars. The iron has been burnished and lacquered and has a lovely silvery finish. The back has a registered design mark, RD276018, dating the fire to 1896. The fire is in very good antique condition with only light signs of use and wear. The fire has some small casting marks, tarnish and scratches, especially to the mantel and cross bar. The mantel screws are not completely flush with the mantel. The back has surface rust as expected. Suitable for a bedroom and ideal for a period property, the fire is a very pretty and desirable item. A fine example of Art Nouveau design.
