Dimensions:
A large late Victorian cast iron combination fireplace with a very attractive design. The fire is of an ideal size for a living or dining room and is heavy and solid. The fire has a very pretty canopy smoke hood that is heavily decorated with leaves and scrolling designs. The fire features classical designs, typical of the era, and a repeating boarder around the fire opening. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a lovely finish. The fire has retained its original fixing lugs, front bars and grill. There is a registered design number on the back of the fire, RD227088, dating the fire to 1894. The fire is in good antique condition with some light signs of use and wear. The back has surface rust as expected. The fire has some small casting marks, pitting and scratches. The concrete fire back has a crack but it is stable and useable. There is some surface rust to the grill. Ideal for a period property, the fire is a very pretty and desirable item and a fine example of Victorian design.
