A very attractive late Victorian tiled combination fire. The fire is cast iron with very pretty deep green tiles with flower design repeated on each side of the fire opening. The fire has a flared smoke hood with acanthus leaf motif that was typical of the era. The fire has the original front bars and the legs and crossbar have a classic design. The fire has both fixing lugs present and the concrete fire back is intact. The fire is of an ideal size for a living or dining room. The cast iron has been blacked and polished and has a high quality finish. The fire has a registered design number, RD253106, dating the fire to 1895. The fire is in very good, useable condition but has some slight signs of wear and damage due to age. There is a break to the top of the smoke flap but this will not be particularly noticeable when fire is fitted. We can repair the smoke flap for an extra charge, please contact us for information and a quote. The tiles have a few knocks and chips and some crazing to the tile glaze but there are no major breaks. One fixing screw at the top of the mantel is slightly out of alignment. Small casting marks and scratches to the iron. The back has surface rust as expected. The fire has a handsome appearance and is a fine example of Victorian design. The fire is ideal for a period property and has elegance and charm.
