A decorative, cast iron, Victorian combination fireplace, ideal for a reception room or larger bedroom. The fire is solid and chunky and is very ornate with swags and bows along the cross bar. The fire has decorative borders and the smoke hood is particularly attractive with a flower and leaf design. The fire has the original shaped front bars. The fire has the design name "BEATRICE" written above the concrete fire back and on the back of the fire. The fire does have an RD number on the back but it is fairly unreadable due to age and wear. We believe the RD number is 5 numbers long, dating it to between 1884-1888. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a rich colour and nice finish. The fire is in good, useable, condition but does have some wear and small repairs. The fire has some light scratches, pitting and casting marks. There is some repaired damage where the right hand fixing lug has broken off. The fixing lug is now missing but a metal lug has been added lower down on the fire. There are some slight chips and cracks to the concrete fire back. There are some knocks to the back of the mantel and some creases or lines. The back has surface rust as expected. The fire has a very attractive design that would suit many types of property. A fine example of Victorian design.
