A very pretty Victorian cast iron fire insert with a stunning carved reclaimed pine fire surround. The large fire is of an ideal size for living or dining room. The cast iron fire insert has a decorative repeating boarder around the fire opening and the original curved front bars are present. The insert is supplied with a reclaimed fire stool and a new 18" fire brick. The iron has been blacked and polished. The large pine fire surround has a beautiful carved design with intricate flower and leaf designs in each corner and fluted detailing on the legs and cross bar. There is a heavy carved border under the mantel. The surround has an inner pine border that has been painted black to blend nicely with the cast iron insert. The fire is in very good condition but there are some slight signs of use, as expected of reclaimed antique items. There are some small scratches and marks to the insert. The back has surface rust as expected and there is a small amount of tarnish and surface rust to the fire stool. The black inner border of the pine surround has a few small holes. The wooden surround has some small scratches and knocks. The fire has a very striking design and it is unusual to find such a pretty surround. Ideal for both period and modern properties, the fire would add great character and charm to a home.
