A very ornate late Victorian cast iron combination fireplace for a living room or larger bedroom. The fire is very decorative and has beautiful repeated fan detailing around the fire opening, a design typical of the era. The centre of the fire has a fern motif and there are pretty panels in each corner featuring a scrolling design. The fire retains its original curved front bars and decorative top plate. The fixing lugs either side of the fire and at the back of the mantel are present. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a lovely finish. The fire has some light damage but the fire is fairly solid and sturdy. The right hand side of mantel has a repaired crack. There is a fine crack that runs under the mantel to the cross bar, on the left hand side of the fire, please see pictures for details. There are some small marks and scratches and there is some light tarnish to the grill. The back of the fire has surface rust, as expected. The fire is a very fine example of late Victorian design and is ideal for adding period character and charm to a home.
