Code: FC0081
Dimensions:
An ornate reclaimed Victorian cast iron combination fireplace. The fire is solid and heavy and of an ideal size for a reception room or larger bedroom. The fire has a very elaborate design with an Adam style urn and scrolling leaves on the crossbar, a style typical of the era. The fire has a very attractive canopy smoke hood which is heavily patterned. Each corner has an oval with flower and there is a moulded design on the legs. The fire retains the original, shaped, front bars and it has a good quality fire brick. There are fixing lugs on each side for attaching the fire to the wall. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a lovely finish. The fire is antique and does have some repaired damage and signs of use. The mantel sustained a break but this has been repaired to a high standard. A thin crack on the mantel can be seen. The fire has some small knocks, chips and casting marks. The back has surface rust as expected. The fire is a very fine example of Victorian design and it is unusual to find such an attractive and decorative item. The fire is perfect for adding character to a period home.
