An original, reclaimed, hobgrate style Edwardian cast iron combination fireplace. The fire is of an ideal size for a living room or larger bedroom and has an unusual design with hobgrate style warming plates on either side of the fire opening that were traditionally used in the Georgian period. The top of the fire has a curved shape to accommodate a shelf and the mantel has a cutout above the shelf. There are decorative panels on either side of the fire opening with a repeated, textured pattern and the inside of the fire opening has a reeded design. The fire features a curved smoke hood and front bars. The 4 fixing lugs are present. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a lovely finish. The fire is in good condition but has had some repairs and has some signs of age and use. The back has surface rust as expected. There are some casting marks, knocks and pitting and some small scratches and knocks. The fire was damaged and has had a replacement back. The fire is now stable and solid but please note the fixing screws are visible from the back. The concrete fire back has some knocks and chips. The fire has an interesting and attractive design that would add fantastic character to a home.
