A pretty and petite reclaimed cast iron combination fireplace that is of the ideal size for a bedroom. The fire does not have a registered design dating number but dates to approximately C.1900. The fire back has the words DERWENT stamped in to it, referring to the maker or the fires model name. The fire has a delicate design, typical of the era, with bows and flowers running down each side. The centre of the crossbar and the canopy smoke hood have oval designs. The fire retains the original decorative front bars. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a lovely finish. The fire is in good condition but has some signs of age and has had some small repairs. The back of the fire has had some repairs and a small metal plate can be seen at the back. The back has surface rust as expected. There are some casting marks, pitting and some small scratches and knocks. The smoke flap has been replaced with a thinner metal flap. The mantel has some pitting. Some filler can be seen in the top corner of the fire brick. The mantel has new screws. The fire has a very attractive appearance that is ideal for a period or modern home and has great character and charm.
