Dimensions:
A very large and attractive, reclaimed and restored, reproduction cast iron fire insert paired with an original Victorian painted pine fire surround. The cast iron insert has a very pretty appearance, in a Victorian style, with decorative boarders, featuring leaf designs, around the arched fire opening. The fire has curved front bars and ash pan cover and the top plate has a face in relief, surrounded by acanthus leaves. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a rich finish. The insert has been paired with a very fine, original, early Victorian pine fire surround. The surround has an elegant design with columns and moulded edges and borders. The surround has been painted, with the exception of the mantel top that has been sanded to show the pines original colour. The paint does have some flaking and chipping, especially to the sides where it was originally fitted and therefore purchaser may wish to sand and touch up the paint or re-finish it to suit. The fire is in very good condition with some signs of use and wear, as expected of reclaimed items. The iron has some very small knocks and scratches. The fire back has surface rust as expected. There are some knocks and chips, especially to the mantel edges and corners. The mantel top has some paint residue. There are some surface splits to the mantel but it is solid and stable. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire is of the perfect size for a living or dining room and has an abundance of charm. The fire insert and surround are ideal for a period home and are useable and desirable items.
