An attractive reclaimed Victorian cast iron combination fire, likely to date to C.1890. The fire has a fantastic appearance with a large arch around the fire opening and the original curved front bars. The corners of the crossbar have an intricate design with scrolling vines and leaves in a shaped border. There is a circular border pattern under the mantel. There are two lugs under the mantel for fixing the fire to the wall. The fire is the perfect size for a living or dining room or for decorative use in a bedroom. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a fantastic finish. The fire is in good reclaimed condition but has some slight signs of use and some repaired damage, as expected of antique items. The back has some surface rust. The front of the fire has some light scratches and marks. Slight tarnish and surface rust to the underside of the grill. The left hand fixing lug and side of the fire has sustained some damage that has been repaired to a high standard but there is a fine crack and knocks that can be seen, the lug has been replaced and there are some metal securing straps on the back face. The iron has some slight pitting and small holes, especially to the front bars. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire illustrates fine Victorian design and would be perfect for adding period character to a home.
