A very elegant, reclaimed, Art Nouveau cast iron combination fire. The fire has a beautiful appearance with a style typical of the era. The domed smoke hood has a shaped edge and Art Nouveau flower detailing. The cross bar has flowers and a very thin shelf detail. The legs of the fire have a fluted column design. The fire is of a good size for a living room or larger bedroom. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a fantastic finish. The fire has a registered design number, RD407771, dating the fire to 1900-1910. The fire is in good reclaimed condition but has some signs of use and replacement parts and therefore would be best suited to decorative use only. The original top plate was missing and has been replaced with a metal plate. There is a gap on either side, between the plate and back of the fire. The front bars were damaged have been replaced with bars from a similar period. The replacement bars are of a different shape and the fire has small holes and lugs where the original front bars sat. The back has some surface rust. The front of the fire has some light scratches, pitting and marks and there is some light tarnish and surface rust to the grill. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire is a wonderful example of Art Nouveau design and would be perfect for adding charm to a period home.
