FC0126 A LARGE RECLAIMED TILED ART NOUVEAU CAST IRON COMBINATION FIRE

A very ornate, reclaimed, Art Nouveau cast iron tiled combination fire. The fire has a very attractive appearance with acanthus leaves on either side of the cross bar and a decorative repeating design along it. The smoke hood has intricate designs and there is a border around the fire opening. The fire retains its decorative front bars. There are two lugs under the mantel for fixing the fire to the wall. On each side of the fire opening there are 3 large tiles with floral designs and 4 border tiles in yellow and green with a textured design. The fire is of a large size and is very heavy, ideal for a living or dining room. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a fantastic finish. The fire is in good reclaimed condition but has some signs of use and some slight damage, as expected of antique items. The back has some surface rust. The front of the fire has some light scratches and marks and there is some light tarnish and surface rust to the grill. There is a small knock to the iron around the border. The fire does have some damage to the right hand side, above the fire opening, with a crack from the edge to near the centre but it is stable. The concrete fire back has a small chip to the right hand side. The tiles have some knocks, chips and cracks. The tile enamel has crazing. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire illustrates fantastic Art Nouveau design and would be perfect for adding character and charm to a home.
