An attractive original Art Nouveau cast iron bedroom combination fire, requiring some restoration. The fire has a lovely design, typical of the Art Nouveau era, with stylised tulips along the crossbar. The base of the legs have further decorative designs. The fire has two fixing lugs, one on either side, under the mantel for fixing the fire to the wall. The fire has an RD number on the back, believed to be RD551325, dating it to 1910. The fire is in need of some restoration and re-finishing and may be best suited to decorative use. The mantel is a pine replacement that has been painted. The paint has chipping and marks. The mantel is slightly loose but will be more secure when the fire is fixed to the wall. The iron has a black paint finish and purchaser may wish to strip and refinish the fire to suit. The paint has some brush strokes, scratches and marks. The top plate is missing. The back and grill have some surface rust. The concrete back has a chip out of one corner and some scuffing and wear. The front bars are not original and are a replacement from a similar era to the fire. The front bars have some extra screws to hold them on. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire has an elegant period appearance and once re-finished it would be ideal for a bedroom or smaller reception room and would add charm and character to a home.
