A beautiful, reclaimed, cast iron combination fire. The fire has a very ornate period design, typical of Victorian styles, with scrolling vines and leaves within a border on each side of the crossbar. There is a heavy repeated decorative border under the mantel with circular designs. The fire has a large arched opening with a plain border and an inner border with circular detailing. The fire has retained its curved front bars and smoke flap with leaf motif and there is a fixing lug on either side of the mantel for attaching the fire to the wall. The iron has been blacked and polished and the fire has a good finish. The fire is in good reclaimed condition with some signs of age and wear, as expected. There are some casting marks, small knocks, pitting and scratches. The top front bar has a small nick out of it. The concrete fire brick has a crack but it is stable within the fire. The back of the mantel had lugs that sink in to the wall and these have now been removed, leaving a slightly uneven back edge. The back of the fire has surface rust. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire has a very pretty period appearance and is of a good size for a living or dining room. The fire is the ideal show piece for a home.
