SOLD

A large, reclaimed, original Edwardian cast iron tiled combination fire. The fire has traditional design with a panel pattern along the cross bar and oval motifs at each end. The legs have further panel designs, circles and scrolls. The flared smoke hood has a pretty acanthus leaf motif. There is a simple border around the fire opening. The fire retains its decorative front bars. There are two lugs under the mantel for fixing the fire to the wall and two tabs, one at the base of each foot, for setting into the hearth. On each side of the fire opening there are 3 large tiles with pretty flower designs in delicate colours and 4 half tiles in green and brown with a textured design. Please note if you wish to change the tiles we can do this for an extra charge but tiles will need to be sourced by purchaser. Please contact us for further information. The fire is of a large size and is very heavy, ideal for a living or dining room. The back of the fire has a registered design number but it is now unreadable. The fire has been painted white but the paint has chips, knocks and stains. We can strip the paint for an extra £100 and once the fire is stripped we can also paint the fire with black fire paint, to give the fire a traditional black finish, for an extra £60. Please contact us before purchase should you require this service. The fire is in good reclaimed condition but has some signs of use and some slight damage, as expected of antique items. The back has surface rust. The front of the fire has some light scratches and marks and there is some tarnish and surface rust to the grill and to the smoke hood. The right hand foot has a large crack and a notch missing from the foot base but it is solid and stable. The concrete fire back has some slight knocks and discolouration. The tile enamel has crazing and some smoke marks that may improve with further cleaning. Some of the tiles have some scuffs and wear to the design, especially to the sides. There are some small knocks and chips to the edges of the tiles. Some of the tiles are slightly loose within the fire and great care will be needed for collection and transportation. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire has a lovely period appearance and will be a fantastic addition to a fireplace.
