A very large and pretty, reclaimed, Art Nouveau tiled cast iron combination fire, dating to C.1900. The fire is very heavy and solid and of a good size for a living or dining room. The fire has a beautiful design, typical of the era, with Adam style urns, swags and bows along the cross bar and small motifs with bows at each end. The fire has a lovely feature smoke hood with wreath and a bow. On each side of the fire opening are fantastic Art Nouveau tiles, with a blue flower and green leave design that runs down the tiles, complimenting the fires design. The fire retains the original front bars and grill and there is a fixing lug on each side, under the mantel. The cast iron has been blacked and polished and has a lovely finish. The combination fire is in very good condition with some slight signs of age and use, as expected of reclaimed antiques. The iron has some small scratches, knocks, pitting and casting marks. The back of the fire has surface rust and some visible tile adhesive. The tiles do have some crazing and cracking and there is some staining to the edges from smoke. The tiles have some very small knocks and chips to the edges and corners. There are some small knocks to the edges of the concrete fire back. Please see pictures for details. The fire is a fine example of Art Nouveau design, perfect for a period home, and it would make a fantastic show piece within the home.
