A very elegant, reclaimed, Victorian cast iron bedroom combination fire. The fire has a fantastic and ornate design with intricate wave detailing under the mantel. The cross bar has a repeated swag design, typical of the era and there are further interesting designs around the fire opening and edges of the fire. There is a small decorative smoke hood piece at the top of the fire opening and the fire retains its shaped front bars. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a nice finish. There is a fixing lug on either side, under the mantel and two tabs at the front of the feet for fitting into the hearth. The back of the fire has an RD number, RD 2163, dating the fire to 1884. The fire is in good reclaimed condition with some signs of use and wear. The mantel has curved upwards slightly on the right hand side and has lifted slightly from the body of the fire. There are some small knocks and casting marks and some further casting marks under the mantel leaving a slightly uneven, bumpy surface. The concrete fire back has some knocks and chips but it is solid. The back has surface rust. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire is a lovely example of Victorian design and the perfect item for adding period character to a bedroom or smaller reception room.
