A large elegant, reclaimed, Victorian combination fire. The fire is heavy and well made with a beautiful design, ideal for a reception room or large bedroom. The fire has a very ornate smoke hood, in the Brighton Pavilion style, and the legs have an attractive column design. There is dentil moulding under the mantel and leaf designs at the top of the legs. The fire retains its original front bars and grill. The fire has a fixing lug on either side, under the mantel, for attaching the fire to the wall. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a high quality finish. The fire has a registered design number on the back, RD 289386, dating the fire to1896. The fire is in good condition with some slight signs of wear, as expected of antique items. The fire has some small knocks, casting marks and lines and some light scratches. The mantel screws do not sit totally flush with the mantel. There are some thin gaps between the inner sections of the fire and the inner legs of the fire. The concrete fire back has some chips and knocks. There is a small gap on each side where the top plate sits on the fire back. The back has surface rust, as expected. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire is a wonderful example of Victorian design and it would add fantastic period charm to a fireplace.
