Code: FC0159
Dimensions:
An elegant and attractive, reclaimed, Art Nouveau cast iron combination fire. The fire is of a good size, ideal for a reception room or larger bedroom and has a lovely design, typical of the Art Nouveau era. The fire has flowers on either side of the crossbar and one on the decorative smoke hood. The fire retains its original front bars and grill and has an ash pan cover. There are lugs on both sides, under the mantel, for fixings. The iron has been blacked and polished. The back of the fire has a model number, No 55, but no dating mark, however the fire is likely to date to C.1900. The fire is in solid antique condition with some signs of age and light damage. The right hand foot has a crack. If concerned about this, we can bolt a metal plate to the back of the crack for no extra charge. Please let us know at time of purchaser if you would like this service. The fire has some casting marks and pitting. The mantel screws do not sit totally flush with the mantel. The side edges of the fire have a rough texture in places. The back has surface rust, as expected. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire is a very nice example of Art Nouveau design and the perfect item for adding period character to a hearth.
