SOLD

A very pretty, petite, reclaimed Victorian combination fire. The fire is well made, with a lovely design and is of the ideal size for a bedroom. The fire has an ornate design along the crossbar and down the legs, featuring flowers and acanthus leaves. The slim smoke hood shares a similar design. There is a decorative motif in the fire opening and circle border around the fire opening. The fire retains its original front bars and grill. The fire has been blacked and polished and has a nice finish. The fire has a registered design number on the back, beginning with a 2, with the rest unreadable, however we can date the fire to the 1890's as the design numbers started with a 2 during this period. PLEASE NOTE: THE FIRE IS FOR DECORATIVE PURPOSES ONLY as it has lost its top flap and fire brick due to damage and they have been replaced with MDF and PLY pieces, sprayed black. The fire CANNOT BE LIT. The iron has some small knocks and chips from age and the mantel has a scratch. There is some damage within the fire opening where the back of the fire meets the top plate and some cracks can be seen. The fire has some small casting marks and pitting. The back of the fire has some surface rust, as expected.  Please see pictures for condition details. The fire is a very pretty example of Victorian design and it would add great period character to a bedroom fireplace.
