A very pretty, reclaimed, Victorian combination bedroom fire for decorative purposes. The cast iron fire has a very ornate design in the Adam style, featuring swags, urns, acorns and leaves that form a border around the fire. The fire has a very nice curved smoke hood with leaf designs. The fire retains its original shaped front bars, fire brick and grill. The fire has two fixing lugs, under the mantel on either side, although one does have a crack. The feet have small tabs for fitting into the hearth. The iron has been blacked and polished and the fire has a nice finish. The fire has a registered design number on the back that is hard to read but appears to be, RD59060 or similar, dating the fire to 1886.
The fire is in solid condition with some signs of age and some repaired damage and it is now suited for decorative use only. The fire was cracked along the crossbar, under the mantel. The long crack runs the length of the fire and has been welded and strengthened. The crack is somewhat visible and the repairs can be seen at the back of the fire. The fire brick has some wear. One of the tabs at the base of the feet have some chips out of it. There has been some damage to one of the mantel edges and it has a large crack. The damage has been repaired and the crack has been filled under the mantel. The crack and repair are visible when looking at the mantel. There are some scratches, casting marks and pitting to the cast iron. The bottom front bar has some slight damage to one corner. The back of the fire has surface rust, as expected. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire has a very nice period appearance, with an abundance of character and it will make a lovely decorative item for a bedroom.
