An elegant and pretty, reclaimed, Mid-Victorian cast iron combination fire. The fire is of a good size, ideal for a reception room or larger bedroom but please note it is SUITABLE FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY. The fire has a very nice design with an arched opening, surrounded by decorative borders featuring leaves. The top of the arch has a pretty motif and on each side, under the mantel, there is a decorative corbel. The fire has a kite dating mark that is tricky to read but we believe the fire was made on 6th July1880. The fire has a wooden replacement mantel, sprayed black, as the original was broken.

The fire is in solid condition but has had some repaired damage and it is now suitable for display purposes only. The fire had breaks to the crossbar above the fire opening and under the mantel, and the main break has been repaired with a metal plate attached to the back of the fire. The cracks can been seen. There are some gaps between the top of the fire and the mantle. The top plate is a metal replacement. The wooden mantel has a surface crack at one end. One fixing lug had broken and it has been replaced with a metal tab. The fire brick has damage and wear and there are gaps around it. The iron has some pitting and casting marks. One of the small feet, at the back of the fire, has a crack. The back has surface rust as expected. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire is a very nice example of Victorian design and is the perfect decorative item for adding period character to a fireplace.
