A rare, Georgian, cast iron fire front and curved fire cheeks. The fire is possibly French and is heavily decorated, with brass urn finials on top of the curved front bars. The cast design stands proud from the fire and features a thick floral border around the fire opening. The curved cheeks have scrolling leaves and female faces. The iron has been blacked and polished giving the fire a rich finish. The curved fire cheeks were designed to sit within a large fire and would be ideal for a large reception room. The set is antique and therefore has some slight signs of use and wear. Small marks, scratches and signs of age can be seen. The brass finials have some slight tarnish and there are some slight patches of rust to the fire front. There are some casting marks and the front bars have some slight chips and knocks. The back has some surface rust as expected. The top edge of the insert is rough and with patina but should be hidden when set into the fire opening. A beautiful, rare and interesting fire set with a great deal of character, ideal for a period home.
